In 1877, Rev. Arthur Carr officiated when his brother George Washington Carr * (1845-1915) married Sara Compton ; they had eight children: Evan, Sophia, Rev. Lee , Mary, Villiers* and Austin (twins), Olive, and Irene. George Washington Carr was an active elder in the Lot 16 church. Villiers (1889-1960) married May Inman (1881-1960); they had three children: Clarence (1913-2000), Lloyd (1915- 1983), and Irene (died 18 months). Villiers was active in the Lot 16 United Church and was very involved in the build¬ ing of the manse. Lloyd married Annie MacLeod (1920- 2001), and they had two children, Ronald and Maybelle. Annie served as church treasurer from 1964 until 1974, and was an active member of UCW and superintendent of Sunday School. Ronald Carr was a choir member and taught Sunday School for a number of years; he also acted as assistant superintendent of Sunday School. Maybelle was a member of choir and CGIT. Her first husband was John Hopkirk ; she later married Scott Bullock . Clarence married Doris Harriet MacGregor (see Can- History) and they had two children: Kenneth Austin (1939- 1972), and Alan MacGregor (1941-1972). Clarence was an elder, choir member, and one of the first trustees of the Lot 16 United Church. Doris was the church treasurer at one time, was the church organist for over forty years, and remains an active member of UCW. Kenneth was married to Christine Ramsay , daughter of Victor Ramsay and Sadie MacLean (see Laughlin Mac - Lean ) ; they had two children, Gregory Alan and Kimberly Joan. Both Kenneth and Christine were choir members in the church. Christine was a member of UCW and Kenneth was superintendent of Sunday School. Gregory was married to Janet Crouse with whom he had two sons, Joshua Kenneth and Jacob Alan . Joshua and Jacob, although living in Ontario , were brought to United for baptism. Gregory's second marriage is to Amanda Schewe and they have an infant son, Riley. The Carr family can trace eight generations who were involved, in various ways over the years, with the Lot 16 Church.
