born on the family farm; he purchased the adjacent property from his Uncle James. Later, he built his new home on James' property. Robert was very interested in community affairs and was a member of the Orange Lodge . He married Janet Stavert and they had six children: Etta, Wilfred*, Stavert, Chalmers, Calvin, and Edmund. Etta worked in Montreal for years, moving back to Lot 16 upon retirement. Wilfred* (1901-1983) lived on and operated the family farm. (He often acted as the villain in the church plays and Charles Yeo commented that Wilfred made a good villain.) He married Margaret Hutchinson , daughter of William and Edith. They had three children, Robert, June, and Dale. Robert and Dale operated the family farm. Dale married Alice Barrett and had one daughter, Stacey who attended youth groups and taught Sunday School at United. She is a member of the church but resides in Charlottetown at the pre¬ sent time. Robert and Dale were killed in a tragic car accident in 1978. June married Glenford MacLean (see MacLean History ). June is involved in the Sunday School where she has been a teacher for twenty-five years and has served as super¬ intendent. June has also been a youth leader and a member of session. Chalmers (Chum) (1905-1998) was a cheesemaker and worked for a time for the Lot 16 Dairying Company. Chum was janitor of the church for many years. He married Alvira Miller (see Miller History ). They had four children: Janet ( Edgar Dennis ), Adele ( John Massey ), Alton, and Ross. The boys farmed in Central Lot 16 before retiring to Summerside . Calvin (1907) farmed in Lot 16 and sang in the Lot 16 United Church choir for many years. He lives in a retirement home in Summerside . Stavert and Edmund moved to .
