Humphrey and Isabella Fullerton MacLamin arrived in eastern North America around 1834 from Kilcreggan (near Greenoch), Scotland with at least five of their eight children. By 1846, they had acquired what was known as the “Ferry Farm” on Grand River in Lot 16. This they purchased from James Yeo by building a ship. Humphrey was a shipbuilder and carpenter as well as a farmer. Their family, Robert (Anne Glover), john (lane MacLean), Mary (Archibald Kennedy), Margaret (Donald MacLean,]ane’s brother, see Laughlin MacLean), Barbara (unwc ), Isabelle (Andrew MacGregor, see MacGregor History), and Peter (Mary Milligan) are all buried in Lot 16 United Church Cemetery. No records were found for a young child namedJamcs who died. Robert and Anne’s daughter, Annie (Iohn Mac- Donald) was the first treasurer of the Lot 16 WMS.

Their son Peter, who married Mary Milligan, daughter of Robert, the Presbyterian elder and builder of the first sanctuary on the present site, is the direct ancestor of the MacLarens who stayed in Lot 16. Peter and Mary had nine children, three of whom remained in Lot 16.

Mary, named after her mother, married Robert Simmons of Belmont who drowned while fishing. She then married Ned Birch and farmed on the property which was inherited by her son Budd Birch in Belmont.James married Ida Fraser of Belmont and lived on the property presently owned by Winston Yeo._]ames and Ida were the grandparents ofJames MacLaurin (Grace Lyle), Campsie (Roger) MacLean, and Ruby (Eddie) Clark. Arthur farmed the MacLaren property on the “Ferry Road”. He married Inez Gamble and three of their seven children stayed in Lot 16.

Jennie married Robert W Betton (see Betton History); Ada married Charming Coughlin. She is the only surviving mem- ber of the family. Ada’s son Ivan (Betty MacGregor) also resides in Lot 16. Arthur’s only son, Frank (1913-1998), stayed on the home property. He married Bertha Ramsay (see John Ramsay Family); they have two children, Donna (Darrell Lyle, see Lyle History) and Gordon (Diane Rayner). Gordon still
