(see Politicians chp. 10), and Catherine.

Catherine married William MacLean of Northam. Their son Roy F. (Little Roy), born in 1892, came to A.E. MacLean’s Sunnybrae Farm to help his uncle and eventually took over the farm with the help of his wife, Beatrice MacCallum.. Roy F. and Beatrice’s daughter, Sadie, married Victor Ramsay of Northam; together they operated Sunnybrae Farm. They had a family of six children: Carl, who died at an early age, Doris, Ivan, john flackie), Christine, and Mary Ellen.

Doris married Arnold Barrett and lives in Belmont. Doris sings in the choir and Arnold is a trustee. They have two sons, Ron and Brent, and three grandchildren. Ivan and his wife, Gail, live in Lot 16. Jackie married Christine Morrison, and they have two daughters, Cathy and Brenda. Cathy and her husband, Wade Bryanton, are active in Lot 16 United Church. Wade is on the Board of Stewards and Cathy is the organist for the Sunday School Choir. They have three sons: Lucas, Lyndon and Logan. Brenda and her husband, Earl Cormier, live in Belmont. Christine (George Williams) was married to Kenneth Carr (see Carr History) and now lives in Ontario. Mary Ellen (Sterling MacLean) resides in Charlottetown.

William James (Willie) MacLean married Isabelle Smith from Eldon after she came to Lot 16 to teach. The couple moved in with his grandparents, Hector and Agnes Mac- Lean, to care for them in their old age; an uncle, Alexander (the postmaster), lived there as well. The land is now the prop- erty of Bruce MacLean, great-grandson of Willie, and the house is owned by Marcia and Dennis Bright. Willie, a short, wiry, quick-turned man, was said to have never learned to walk, just to run. To support and educate his family, Willie farmed, fished oysters and lobsters, and operated a fox ranch. His son, Roy E., was involved with him in the foxes and trav- eled to Alaska at one point to bring back a pair. Willie served as an elder of the Presbyterian Church in Lot 16 for many years. Once a year, Willie and Isabelle drove from Lot 16 to Eldon, a trip of two days by horse and buggy, to visit her par- ents, Andrew and Anne Smith.
