RONALD MACISAAC

Ronald MacIsaac was born in 1833, in Bear River in the two storey home now in the possession of Kevin and Nancy (Kierstead) MacIsaac. Ronald married Agnes Rice. From this union they had one son, Vernon, who was the father of Agnes Sheehan and one daughter Annie. Annie married Ned Sheehan. She died with her stillborn child (this was her only pregnancy).

After Agnes’ death, Ronald married Sarah Gillis, a Scottish lass from Cape Breton, who could speak Gaelic. Sarah had two sons, John (Jack) and Joseph Alexander. Ronald was fifty-three years old when Joseph Alexander was born.

Ronald was not only a farmer, but a blacksmith as well. His blacksmith shop was located in the field south of the existing dwelling.

Ronald operated the mixed farming operation with the assistance of his son, Joseph. When Ronald became too old to work, he continued to live in the same dwelling until the time of his death, where he died at the age of one hundred and two years.
