his favorite books. Joe and Gram were very thankful to find him, safe and sound. He was closely watched from that moment on.

After Kevin completed High School, he enrolled in Truro Agricultural College and spent two years there. He was interested in obtaining a degree, so went on to the Agricultural College in Guelph, Ontario, where he received his bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

He accepted a position with the Department of Agriculture in Sussex, N.B. Kevin had a great interest in school. His mother was a school teacher and there were many school activities going on at home. One evening Kevin was introduced to a school teacher named Nancy Kierstead from Campelton, N.B. Kevin had a keen interest in this fine lady and eventually they were married in Sussex, NE. on July 1, 1982. It was a two fold celebration, their wedding and Canada’s birthday.

Kevin missed the farm and was anxious to return home. He and Nancy returned to Bear River in 1984 and took up residence in the original homestead where Kevin started to farm.

In the beginning he operated a mixed farming operation, where he produced dairy and grain. Here his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture was certainly an asset in improving the performance of the farm.

In 1993, Kevin was interested in a change, so started growing potatoes. With time, he increased his potato acreage, and soon found that he lacked sufficient time for both the dairy and potatoes. In 1998, he sold the livestock and now devotes all his time to a three year rotation of potatoes, grain and hay crops. .

Nancy continued to follow her teaching profession, and teaches in Fortune Consolidated School. They have four children, Erica, attending U.P.E.I., Ryan, a student at U.N.B., and Sarah and Megan attending Souris High School and living at home.
