from the field to the yard. She was very efficient when it came to storing bales of hay in the loft. In fact, Dianne liked farming so much, she later decided to marry a farmer.
Dianne completed High School, and then enrolled at Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, N.S., from where she graduated with a Science Degree in Physical Education. The following year she received her Bachelor of Education Degree from U.P.E.I. before starting her career as a teacher.
Kevin was Dianne’s older brother, and was very protective of her. He especially kept an eye on her during social gatherings. One night Dianne was attending a dance at the Souris Curling Club, and of course big brother Kevin was there too. He introduced Dianne to one of his buddies, Benny Nabuurs, whom he had met at Truro Agricultural College. Benny was immediately attracted to Dianne, and it was love at first sight. From then on, Dianne had a smile on her face wherever she went.
During the summer months Dianne worked as a summer student at the Brudenell Golf Course. We soon noticed that she was spending more time in Cardigan than she was at home. The big attraction was Benny Nabuurs, who took her everywhere including to the golf course.
On July 7, 1984 she and Benny were married in St. Alexis Church, Rollo Bay. They now reside in Cardigan, where Dianne teaches in Cardigan Consolidated School. Benny works for McCain Produce Inc. as a Crop Protection Manager. He also does some farming as well. They have five children, Heather, Laura, Terry, Benjamin and Hannah.
