sporting a big white cast. Gary was upset and was still awake when we came into the house. The expression of relief on Gary's face was obvious. There was one happy ending to the story, and that was that the wrestling was put on hold for a full six weeks. It was a relaxing time for us as parents. Terry recalls having a close call putting off a load of hay. He was on top of the load, passing bales to his father. He went to the edge of the load to pick up a bale, when the bales on the wagon gave away, and fell to the ground, bringing him with them. He was not hurt, so he returned to the top of the load once more. Awhile later he received a second fall. This time he landed on the ground with a number of bales following on his head. He was dazed, but again returned to the load. He never told his father about the mishap, because he still wanted to be one of the hired hands. Terry was lucky, because the outcome could have been more serious. Patsy had a misfortunate accident one Halloween night when she was a teenager. She and some friends went to visit the neighbors, Peter and Doreen Chaisson, who lived across the road. It was a very dark night, and as they stood on the doorstep, the dog came around the corner and startled them. Patsy stepped back, only to find that the deck had no railing, and she flipped over on the ground. She suffered a whiplash and was in serious pain. There seemed to be no cure, and she spent some uncomfortable hours sitting in a classroom, while going to school. Some days were worse than others. Occasionally, thoughts of that Halloween night still refresh her memory, for the pain comes back to agonize her from time to time. 81
