had pie for dessert someone would ask the question, “Are we having pea pie for supper tonight?” It always made some laughter for the evening meal.
There was always something funny happening on our farm. One beautiful spring evening after a snowfall, Joe, and the boys were on their way to the barn to do the evening chores. Blair and Gary, who had excess energy to wear off, stopped to have a snowball fight, while Joe continued on to start the work.
Suddenly two well dressed politicians appeared on the scene. They were canvassing before an election, and went on to the barn to speak to Joe. The boys never noticed them and continued firing snowballs at each other. Blair wanted to get one last one on Gary, so he threw it in his direction. Gary, on the other hand, saw it coming, and quickly opened the barn door to get under cover. Just as he opened the door, the two men were coming out. Well, Gary ducked, and the snowball went over his head, and caught one of the gentlemen right on the ear. The man was quite startled, but took it in good part. It was quite a welcome for a first time visitor to the farm. The politicians quickly continued on their way, so we were not sure if he suffered any injuries or not.
As one politician said to another “I thought about kicking the dog, but on the other hand, I thought the vote was worth too much to me”.
