would be in progress before long. Blair would be down on the pond early Saturday morning, removing the
snow and getting ready for the big day. All the children in the neighborhood
would follow later and the action would begin. They did not have a net, so Blair made one out of boards. It was so heavy
they could not lift it, so Blair used the tractor to transport it to the ice. There was also good ice across the road in the pit. If is was too windy on the pond, they would move to the pit where it was more sheltered.
One day there was no school due to a storm. When the weather cleared, all the children went to the pit for a skate. Sometime later, everyone went home, but Terry decided to stay. When he played himself out, he tried to remove his skates, but the lacings were frozen. The more he tried, the more frustrated he became, for his hands were getting even colder. He realized that he was there all alone, and went into hysterics with his crying. Luckily someone came looking for him, and rescued him before he had frozen fingers.
Now, many years later, the Lily Pond is still a topic of conversation when the family gets together for family functions. The name is still in existence today, for it has been transferred to the farm. Lily Pond Farms can be seen on the trucks as they pass by. It is also the name that is visible on the warehouse. The name Lily Pond Farms will live on, not only in our memory, but with Kevin and Blair as they farm the land. What more
appropriate name could they find?
