to lease it for a longer term, such as a 15-20 year period. Trustees were attempting to find an acceptable method of expansion, and insisted that whatever the lease situation, there would be a special clause assuring that if the Board failed to operate the camp for any two consecutive seasons, it would automatically be deeded back to First Baptist.

The two First Baptist representatives on the Camp Board, Ross Affleck and Windsor Brehaut, had been extremely interested in the Rice Point camp since it was opened, and both had spent countless physical hours in its development. They were excited about the Board’s concept of operation, especially the new 20' x 50’ steel structure that was added in 1981. The camp was now officially know as Camp Segunakadeck lnc. but to Ross Affleck, Windsor Brehaut, the trustees and a thousand youngsters, any reference to it would bejust "Seggie”.

In his annual report to the congregation, Interim Pastor Murray Armstrong stressed the fact that his major emphasis was going to be pastoral visitation. It was his personal aim to visit every member of the church family, in an effort to apply programs to needs. Michael Lipe's forte was Christian Education and he was encouraged by the new constitutional changes that were approved on June 25, 1982. They were the first alterations since the original constitution was ratified in 1955. There were only rumblings about the ’MaririmeBapr/‘st’ coming hi-tech printing era, but the old office printing machine had run its course, and disposal was the only solution. Replacing it became part of a much larger package, when $14,000 was borrowed to do a required major overhaul to the Casavant pipe organ and purchase a new office Gestetner copy machine, primarily to print the bulletins for weekly services. The old 1912 Casavant church organ, enlarged and upgraded when it was moved to the new church in 1959, had not had a major upgrade in almost 25 years. The three weeks work required to make the changes would have organist Gloria Atkinson leading the choir from the sanctuary piano.

Mike Lipe was an editor by nature and training who knew the value of promotion through photography and the written word. Since arriving at First Baptist, he felt the church should have a pictorial record of all members, and in 1982 the first member photo directory was produced. It was a big improvement over the congregational photographs taken a number of times through the Mitton era. That was a quarter century ago, and Dr. Harold Mitton, the much loved former pastor of First Baptist, was now principal of the Acadia Divinity College in Wolfville. Nova Scotia.

The Dorcas Group was still meeting on a regular basis, although their numbers had dwindled to less than a dozen. They were one of the oldest ladleS mission associations in the church. They dated back to the time when the LadleS
