weekly camps. The Expansion Fund was established to continue to upgrade the camp and First Baptist pledged $25,000 over three years. Another $10,000 from estates, matched by an equal amount from the Camp Association, assured capital expansion and maintenance for the immediate future. Former pastor Arthur Hadley and his wife Edna visited Prince Edward Island in the summer, and Art Hadley spoke at one of the evening services in July. Cleaveland 'Cleaver' Maclean was recognized for his service as a Charlottetown Baptist Church usher for 63 years. In August 2000, in answer to a call, Reverend Mike MacDonald, his wife Angela and family, arrived in Charlottetown to take over the position as Pastor of Youth and Young Adults . In September, one of the church worship teams expanded its ministry by holding a Sunday evening service once a month. It was called "Worthy of Worship" and very shortly they became known as the First Baptist WOW group. Their modern Christian music ministry attracted many young people, and it was amazing, given the generation gap that was evident in church music, how many adults and seniors made attendance on WOW evenings a regular habit. It was not long before many of the modern gospel selections were being heard at regular Sunday morning services. There were a few who called it 5 and 10 music, five verses sung ten times, but even they could not discourage or stem its growing popularity; and if one really observed carefully, the critics could often be seen singing along. Margaret Kennedy had done everything possible to maintain its existence, but at the end of 2000 the ladies Dorcas Group was disbanded. These ladies had been a "working" group in the church for decades, but they were down to three members. They had actually met five times throughout 2000 and continued to support their Bible-a-month program for the Canadian Bible Society. These wonderful dedicated ladies fulfilled all of their financial commitments to various church and community activities, and at the annual meeting in January 2001, they quietly closed the door.
