Another exciting time was the arrival of a box of books on loan to the school from the Provincial Lending Library. This event happened two or three times a year
Arbor Day, celebrated on the Friday preceding Victoria Day in May, was a day devoid of all usual school activities. The boys brought rakes, shovels and wheelbarrows to clean up the school grounds. The girls brought brooms, mops, pails, and whatever else was needed to do a thorough housecleaning of the interior. There were never any trees planted! We completed the work with great dispatch. The sooner we completed it, the sooner the long weekend began.
The Victoria Day weekend usually
