Churches

The people of Sturgeon seriously recognized their dependence on their Creator. The community had three churches: the Baptist Church, the United Church, and St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church. For thirty years, from 1936, the pastor of St. Paul’s was Father Findley Mullally. Services at the Baptist Church were conducted by Rev. Mr. Fletcher who was followed by Rev. Mr. Hill, and upon Mr. Hill’s moving to Nova Scotia, Rev. A. D. J. Steeves took over the pastoral duties. The congregation of the United Church was served by Rev. Mr. Boyce and later by Rev. Mr. Patterson.
