8! Our House For the first few years our family did not have a home of our own. We shared accommodations with our grandfather, John Martin Kearney, in Sturgeon, and with our uncle, Edward Murphy, on St. Mary’s Road. About 1942, our Dad bought an abandoned house on Panmure Island. This house, in which we grew up, was hauled over the ice from Panmure Island to its present location in Sturgeon.
