     One of the highlights of every 
     
     summer was the arrival, for the first two 
     
     weeks of July, of the “Yankees.” They 
     
     were our Mother’s two aunts and their 
     
     husbands: Emma and John Fisher from 
     
     Fort Edward, New York, and Katie Ada 
     
     and Art Kenny from Mexico, Maine. For 
     
     weeks before their coming, a great 
     
     amount of shining and polishing took 
     
     place so that the place would look spic— 
     
     and-span for the welcome Visitors. This 
     
     meant a new “square of oil cloth” 
     
     (linoleum) for the kitchen floor and a 
     
     “clean out” and new wallpapering for the 
     
     outdoor toilet. The facility was also 
     
     equipped with a container of lime. The 
     
     lime was used in lieu of flushing. The
