“I just kept on going. hoping to get it over." were the words Soupie used to describe his first lifetime race. lie was 17 at the time and he was driying [flu/tee Hanover. a trotter owned by Stanley Mayhew. lle remembered that he was neryous and that he finished second in 2:12 at Sackyille Downs. His first win came shortly after with a nondescript mare. (.in‘onalion Lass which was also Stanley ;\rlayhe\\'.

New Brunswick. That was quite a trip with one of the most popular horses eyer to race in the Maritimes.
