Nobody can train a poor horse. It takes a good trainer to train an average or mediocre horse and the vast majority of horses in the world today are mediocre horses. The best trainers bring out that full genetic potential in a horse. A poor trainer can ruin a good horse."
Each year Ian had one specific goal in harness racing. He wanted to have one of the best horses on the invitational free— for—all circuit. In the past he certainly achieved that goal with Astronomical. McGeI‘fy and Pierce Seelsz‘er. term goals were to have young horses as well because he really enjoyed training colts and fillies. might travel this path because he be— lieved there was nothing more rewarding.
It seemed that there were not enough hours in most days for Dr. Ian Moore. He did have other interests and they involved playing and coaching hockey. playing ball, stock—car racing, lecturing and writing. He reasoned, “I like to keep busy. I always need something else to do. I have lived a busy life and if I am not busy I get cranky. My desk is always full. I am busy but I like it that way and I wouldn’t want it any other way."
On Friday, August 1. 2008 at Pocono Downs. Shadow Play. driven by Dave Miller, established a world record for three—year—olds on a i‘ive—eights mile track of 1:482. He was owned by Ian Moore, RG. McGroup Ltd. and Serge Savard. Congratulations Ian, on selecting this colt and managing his development.
This handsome and statuesque son of The Panderosa and Mails Filly also earned his legitimate place in harness rac— ing history on September 18. 2008. In spectacular fashion, Shadow Play won the 65rd edition of the prestigious Little Brown Jug in world record combined times of 1:50 and 150.1. Shadow Play and his superb team of driver David Miller. trainer Ian Moore and groom Nancy Moore are to be congratulated for this historic performance.
