horses and he remembered more than their names. Each of them had a story to tell and Clark had memories for all of his horses. Some of his favorites were Victorious Bill, Vivian’s Lane, Going Time, Cheryl’s Time, Spartacus Chip, Dustylane Commander, Harboriizie Amz, Doc’s Choice and Prime Plus Two. None of these horses held any track records but they all held a special place in the hearts and records of this Cudmore family.

Everybody in the game has a favorite horse. Doc’s Choice was the favorite for Clark. This fellow was purchased as a yearling from Ralph MacLean of King's County. Clark remembered well the day Albert Bernard won a three—year—old trot stake with Doc/s Choice. This horse became almost a pet with the whole Cudmore family. Harhoruzte Ann was

probably the best horse Clark ever owned. l'il’iCllZ’S Lane seemed to race forever without winning a race but when she finally broke the drought, she won

five races in a row!

Clark remembered one cold winter morning when he was jogging Spartacus Chip at the C.D.P. It seemed that he couldn't hold this fellow that morning. They eventually hit a snow bank which. of course, was in full view of everyone in Ed Atkinson‘s Horsemen‘s Canteen. Clark picked himself up from the snow, collected his steed and walked all the way around the track. There was no way he would face the onlookers by walking past the Canteen. That was the last horse he ever jogged. He was so embarrassed that Max and his son, Guy did all the jog- ging after that.
