Another time, I saw three big city policemen dragging a man into the hospital; a little nurse took the same man down the hall without any backup.

Another time a young man was brought in who seemed to be greatly disturbed by having to be taken into the hospital, but when I went in to see him, he was dead. He never got to Admissions. Apparently, he died from kidney failure.

I was examining a patient another day, when I heard a great scream outside. It was the dying scream of a heart attack patient. When I saw that he was dead, I called the priest who came out to the hospital and gave him the last rites. To my surprise, I read later that he was buried from the Protestant church up Souris way. I apologized to the priest, and his remark was ”I don’t think I hurt him any”

Another night, we were called to a large waiting room where all the patients were sitting around watching a man hang himself to the ceiling lights. We were able to cut him down after he kicked the chair from under himself. He did not receive any great harm from this incident.

I was there another night, when a man was transferred from the penitentiary in Dorchester. He had a big iron bar, which I don’t know where he got, and he was swinging it around saying “I’m going to kill someone.” I called the RCMP and a little cop arrived. He said there was nothing he could do, so one of the attendants grabbed a
