of relatives and friends who have passed on. Those tributes have enhanced the beauty and enriched the services of our Church.
In the church records the names Younker, Moore, Hooper, Holroyd, >Wise, Crabbe, Horne, Moreside, Coles, Rodd and Curtis are the most frequently seen. Descendents of many of these families are still involved in the church's activities. Some family names once common that are no longer present are: Meikle, Dodd, Darke, Bolt, Carson and Foster.
We hope that our church, St. John the Evangelist, and its ministry, will continue to
serve the spiritual needs of its people on into the next century. To this end, in this our 150th year, the congregation has decided to begin a renovation of the church beginning with a new foundation which will lead to a finished basement housing a church hall. The task will not be easy. But those who came before us, though they, too, had trial and tribulation, were in the end united in their belief in carrying on the Lord's work. To the glory of God they have left us their buildings, beliefs and traditions. Can we do less?
