A number of former students remember the north-west corner of the classroom as their " library." This consisted of one book case with some precious books - precious because books were scarce at that time. Many students truly treasured their library and spent many happy times in the pages of a book. However, one woman has different memories of that bookcase. She recalled an older boy taunting her and picking her up and setting her on top of the bookcase and leaving her there. She said she was left there until they would hear the teacher coming and the boy would quickly come and lift her down. It seems bullying was part of school life in that era also.
