The members of Argvle W.I . experienced a delightful evening on May 6, 1986, when they were invited to have their meeting at Fanningbank by Mrs. Helen MacPhail , a former member of the community. Her husband, the Honorable Lloyd MacPhail , was Lieutenant - Governor at the time. The meeting, followed by a delicious lunch, was held in the family room. Later, Mrs. MacPhail graciouslv conducted the ladies on a tour of Government House. It was a memorable occasion. One of the organization's most successful fund raisers is the annual strawberry social which is held on the first Monday of July every year. Last summer was the 32nd anniversary of this event and it has become one of the summer things to do for many people in the Anniversary yasch Marked By ?d Wl ARGYLE SHORE - A suc¬ cessful anniversary supper vvas reported on during the March meeting of the Argyle Shore Wl. A good turnout of members and husbands enjoyed a social evening with music provided by Gary MacPhail. June MacDou ¬ gall prepared an anniversary cake. Mrs. Dianne MacPhail presid¬ ed over the business meeting la the absence of the president. Eleven members were present Ruby Seller and Florence MacPhail reported several sick calls had been made It was agreed that the group contribute prizes to the value of $5 to the Argyle Junior Lodga for their card night. Their plan* are to purchase a tennis table for the Centre with the proceeds from the evening. An interesting and education¬ al discussion on varied topics including women's legal right* formed the program. Committees for March are: hostesses.
