to socialize and the day was much enjoyed by everyone who attended. Two ladies from Lady Argyle had the distinction ofholding the office of Grand Mistress of PET. at different times. They were Jeanette MacLean and Edith MacPhail. Joan MacPhail also served as Grand Secretary for several years.

Visitations were held throughout the fall months when lodges around the Island would visit back and forth. These were great social occasions and a lot of enjoyment was had when a carload of ladies set out to visit a sister lodge far away from home. Two things were certain. There would probably be an adventure or two on the drive and there was always a delicious lunch at the end of the meeting.

One of the yearly events, with members from each organization attending, was a parade and church service. These were held at different churches in the surrounding areas. The members would assemble in full regalia outside the church where the parade marshal would organize them into marching file. They would parade into the church where they would sit in a body. After the service, they would parade back out and, after the singing of“God Be With You Til We lVleet Again”, were dismissed. The Lodges were an important part of the community life ofArgyle Shore for many years.
