Sleigh Rides
Someone telephoned Noel Potts in 1975 to ask if he would take a small birthday party group for a sleigh ride. This gave Noel the idea to start advertising in the Guardian to see ifthere were others interested in this winter activity. There was definitely interest! In the beginning, people came to Noel and Elaine’s farmhouse to await their sleigh ride. Then, as the business grew, a small building was fixed up across the field to accommodate larger crowds. The business soon outgrew the first cabin. A new cabin was built in 1989, complete with kitchen and washroom facilities, and decorated with several antiques including a one hundred year old cast-iron stove. The business soon became a family tradition for the Potts with the winter months revolving around the sleigh ride operation.
The Potts family has been very lucky to have several wonderful neighbours help out with the sleigh rides over the years. These neighbours helped with various activities including: hitching the horses, organizing groups, and driving the sleighs.
