r’a‘ Dougie MacPhail remembers travelling on the “winter road" to Bonshaw. Sometimes, several people would drive over to go to Victoria Rink to watch a hockey game. They would put the horse in at Theofif Beaton's barn and pile on the back ofa truck owned by a local man and go to the rink. On returning to Bonshaw, they would hitch the horse into the
sleigh and return home
‘3 I remember as a kid being so fascinated when I would go to Duncan Campbell's forge. I would watch him put horse shoes into a blazing fire. He would then take them out ofthe fire and plunge them into cold water, then he would shoe the horses. - Linda (Inman) MacDonald
a Lillian Pinkney remembers that playing cards was not allowed in their house, but her brother Lloyd was a good artist and he took some cardboard and made a deck of cards. Lillian remembers they were a bit smaller than a regular deck. When cousins ofher father, Ruth and Bruce MacDougall, came from the States for summer vacations, they would bring cards with them. They would go down to a room and close the door to play cards. If they heard Maria or Johnny Angus coming, they would throw a blanket over the cards.
