(^=a Dougie MacPhail remembers travelling on the "winter road" to Bonshaw . Sometimes, several people would drive over to go to Victoria Rink to watch a hockey game. They would put the horse in at Theoff Beaton 's barn and pile on the back of a truck owned by a local man and go to the rink. On returning to Bonshaw, they would hitch the horse into the sleigh and return home (j3* I remember as a kid being so fascinated when I would go to Duncan Campbell 's forge. I would watch him put horse shoes into a blazing fire. He would then take them out of the fire and plunge them into cold water, then he would shoe the horses. - Linda (Inman) MacDonald (j^" Lillian Pinkney remembers that playing cards was not allowed in their house, but her brother Lloyd was a good artist and he took some cardboard and made a deck of cards. Lillian remembers they were a bit smaller than a regular deck. When cousins of her father, Ruth and Bruce MacDougall , came from the States for summer vacations, they would bring cards with them. They would go down to a room and close the door to play cards. If they heard Maria or Johnny Angus coming, they would throw a blanket over the cards. S 4
