Reminiscences ^^ One night Bev MacPhail, Roma MacDougall and Edith MacPhail decided to go to the cellar to get weighed on the potato scale. They had to go outside and into the cellar with an oil lamp to do it. One of them held the oil lamp to read the scale but they laughed so hard they blew out the lamp and were stuck in the cellar in the dark. ^^ Doug MacPhail's uncle, Arthur MacPhail , used to steep cherry bark in water as a tonic in the springtime. ^^ I remember, when we were kids, walking to Fred's marsh pond to play hockey. I also remember walking to Bonshaw through the woods to get groceries because the roads were closed due to a heavy snowstorm. It took plows several days to open the roads. One plow did all the roads in this area. - Harvey Inman *W<: '«/Fr Linda and Addie Inman. Collie MacPhail in the Inman's yard, circa 1940. ^^ I remember when we first moved to Argyle Shore and some neighbors came to say hello and drop off a dried flower arrangement. We felt really welcome. Getting to know everyone in a new community is often a challenge, Lorna Pollard helped me fill in the blanks as I tried to figure out the different MacPhail and MacDougall families and all the others. - Barb Currie ss
