a When he was 13 or 14 years old, Morris would go to the woods with the horse and sleigh and haul 2 loads ofwood in the morning and 2 loads in the afternoon. He would also haul straw with the horse and sleigh from where we now live to the home place. One time we came down the hill and made the turn through the gate and we both fell of}n the load onto a snow bank. I was upset with the horse, Prince, so I hit him on the nose with my mitt, Morris could only laugh at me. —]une and Morris MacDougall

a One night when Morris was driving for the sleigh rides at Potts’s, I went along with him. When we hitched Qleeny in the sleigh, she backed up fast and hit the house. Billy was still living then. He said she broke the
