Reminiscences
,3 The beach at Neil and Roma MacDougall’s was always the best place to swim. People from all around would go there for a Sunday afternoon. There would be hundreds of people there. There was no cliff and lots of sand. There weren't that many places that had a road down to it like that. There was a spring with a little house around it where you could keep your
lunch and drinks cold.

a One student recalls new and exciting changes at school in Argyle in the 1960's: ”We were encouraged to express our creativity, and so we did. I remember every grade participating in writing a community newsletter; the news was priceless. My cousin and I wrote our first novel “The Mystery of Argyle Shore" (1 think it was all of 10 typed pages) and we were allowed to sell it. That year was full ofexcitement, fun at school and so much learning." - Laurie Bowers
a I remember being at school the day John F. Kennedy was killed in the United States. It was the first time we realized that the teacher was a “real person". It was with tears in her eyes that she told us about what had happened, allowed us to ask questions, answered as best she could and then sent us home for the afternoon. This was probably our first exposure to such violent tragedy."— Laurie Bowers
