The History (it Argvle Shore 1. MacLean The house, located at the boundary between DeSable and Argyle Shore , was built on the farm owned by the MacLean family and is one of the oldest in the shore. The original owners were John MacLean , married to Mary (Sterling), who had emigrated from Scotland in 1819. When John MacLean died in 1826, he left half of the farm to his wile and the other half to his son, John Jr . His other son, Donald Sr . was to receive his mother's half when she died. John Jr married Anne (McFadyen).The farm was next owned bv four of Charles and Mary's children, Annie, John, May, and Alan who continued to live there until their deaths. The farm was then inherited by Roy MacLean , who was the grandson ol John and Catherine (Livingston). He and his wife, Joan, lived there until Roy's death. Joan then sold the farm to James Shaw who later passed it on to his son, Kevin who is married to Beth (MacDonald) of Crapaud . They have three children, Darryl, Randv, and Kimberly In 2002, they moved to the Shaw family home on the next farm and this original MacLean dwelling has been sold. 102
