The History of Argyle Shore 8. Richard Baker & Lorraine Begley Richard and Lorraine's home was built in 1980 and is classified as a saltbox with an addition. It is located on property that abutts Argyle Shore provincial park. Most of the original home was built by Richard and Lorraine with two local carpenters, Harry Munroe , and Lome Bowers , completing much of the detail work. In 1989-90, an addition of eight hundred square feet, built by Harry Munroe and Dalvay Pollard, was added to this passive solar home. The house windows face toward the south to collect heat from the sun during the cold months. Very few windows were installed to the north to prevent cold from entering from that exposure. The tree lined clay berm to the west was designed to protect the house from prevailing north-west winds. Richard and Lorraine have three daughters, Josie, Katie Colleen , and Jean. 108
