The History of Argyle Shore 14. Dorothy MacPhail This is the home of Dorothy (Good) MacPhail. It was in this home that she and her husband, Foster (deceased) raised their two daughters, Gayle Creighton and Bonnie Cousins . Foster inherited the farm property from his father, Malcolm (Little Mack). Malcolm and his wife, Elizabeth (MacDonald), had nine children, Chester ( Maude Oakes ), Annie Mae ( Harold Ferguson ), Foster ( Dorothy Good ), Vina ( Art Howard ), Irene ( Jack MacMillian ), Collie ( Margaret MacQuarrie ), Erma ( Blair Hockett ), Gordon (Sherry Pilkington), and Murchison (Bernadette MacDonald). Six of the children were born in this house. Elizabeth died at the age of 39, leaving Mack to raise the children. Dot later married Bert MacPhail . Together they raised Bert's granddaughter, Anne MacPhail , daughter of Ewen and Reno (Yeo) (who died in childbirth). Up until recently, Dot, was very active on the farm, still doing farm chores including fencing, and discing. Anne resides in the homestead with Dot and has inherited the love of the farm. ^^ The original owners of this home was a MacDonald family. Years before the construction of the house was completed, it was used for storing grain and hay. 114
