a In 1821, the three oldest sons of lVIalcolm and Flora MacPhail, Neil, Colin and John added this property to the three others they had bought in 1817. These farms are all west of the homestead and were 100 acres each. The deed was signed on December 10, 1821 by Sir James Montgomery and his brothers, James Archibald and Robert Montgomery. These are the farms of Gary, Doug and Ewen.

:"3 The farm, on which this home is situated, was purchased by Fred and Cecil MacPhail in the 1950’s and since then nine additional homes and seven cottages have been built on it.

a The Argyle Shore Cemetery began in the early 18005 on this farm as a family burial ground. Sometime in the 19405, additional property to extend the cemetery was purchased from John C. MacPhail.
