On Prince Edward Island’s Argyle Shore, where the steep cliffs give way to the gentle sandy beaches and miles of sandbars filled with little more than quahogs, sits the waterfront resort currently known as “A Distant Shore Beachfront Cottages”. It has been owned and run since 2007, by Don and Lynda McCrimmon, who live on the property year round with their teenage daughter, Tenley.

Originally carved from the MacDougall homestead lands, it has been the site of summer gatherings since pie—confederation days. The current MacDougalls continue the tradition and occupy the adjacent beachfront property in their personal summer cottages.

The year round residence and 10 cottage business currently occupies 5.4 acres and boasts 325 feet ofbeachfront with a playground, play area, gardens and paths. The cottages are filled each summer with families from all over North America, most of whom have been coming for years and, in some cases, decades.

Neil and Roma MacDougall began the business in the 1970’s and called it “Argyle Sunset View Cottages” after the spectacular sunsets for which the property and the cottages are particularly well situated
