The Houses ot Argyle Shore 52. Noel & Elaine Potts Allen MacDougall bought this farm from Robert Bruce Stewart in 1853. His son, Samuel MacDougall and his wife, Jane (Stewart), occupied it next. John A. MacDougall , their son, and his wife, Mary (Darrach), bought the farm from his father. In 1896, Samuel and Jane moved to New Argyle on the land now owned by Kevin McMurrer. William Potts was adopted by Mary, his cousin, and John A MacDougall , sometime around 1911. William Potts married Florence (MacPhee) and they had two sons: Carl and Noel. Noel and his wife, Elaine (Cairns) took over the farm and remain there today. They raised their two children there, Andrew ( Jill ) and Amanda (Jason Ramsey). Carl, built on the property as well.There were 2 old houses in the yard, one was the original house, the other was Mrs. Fisher 's. That house was moved from the other side of the woods almost where the road is now. There is an old road running through the farm which is up over the hill and there is a mark there were another old house was. Ewen Livingston lived there. 161
