53. Davidjr 59’ Angela McMurrer

The original family home at the property of David Jr and Angela Mchurrer was built by Allan lWacDougall (1870-1941). He and his wife,]anet (MacDonald), later moved to Nine Mile Creek and Allen's brother, Thomas, and his wife, Sara (MacLaughlin) moved in to the home. The home was one and a half storys with a summer kitchen. The upstairs was eventually divided into two bedrooms. There was also a bedroom on the first floor. Tom and Sarah ran a little store there as a convenience for their many friends and neighbors.They sold items such as chocolate bars, tobacco, kerosene, etc. It was one of the first places where gas could be bought. The gas was contained in a 45 gallon drum and siphoned out with a hose for customers. They also operated a butcher shop on the property. After Tom died, Margaret lVlcharrie lived there with Sarah for twenty two years. Together they continued the business for a number of years. The house was vacant for a while. It was later purchased, along with 5 or 6 acres of land, by David MCMurrer (1916—1998) and his wife, Louise (Mclnnis). It was at this time that the upstairs was finished.
