57. Ric/Jam? {9° Rosemary Wbitloc/e (The Alexander MacPhail Homestead)

This home, known as Hawk Hill, is believed to be one of the oldest houses still standing in “The Shore”. Part of it is constructed oflogs.

It was originally built by Alexander lVlacPhail who was married to

Christina (Campbell). They had twelve children, Charles, Colin, Ewen, John, Christina, James, Malcolm, Archibald, Nlargaret, Flora, Catherine, Goodwill (lived in the shore). James and Eliza remained on the farm and had one child, Donald, who married Amy (Ferguson), daughter of Captain Dan of Hampton. Their two sons, Everett and Charlie, both moved to OntarioThe farm was bought in 1987 by Noel and Andrew Potts, but the house remained in the MacPhail name until a lVlrs. McQuaid bought it. It was eventually sold to Richard and Rosemary Whitlock who are the present ownersThey have a son, Yury, and a daughter, Lara.
