Mary Trainor (The MacNevin Homestead ) The Trainor home is on the property originally settled by the MacNevin family who emigrated from the Isle of Coll, Scotland , in about 1810. It was built by builder, Silas Murley , for Neil A. MacNevin and his wife, Jennie (French).They raised two children there, Leslie and Edna Alberta (Bertie). They also had a son, Robert, who died in infancy. Leslie served in the Canadian Army during World War II. He arrived home from Germany in August of 1945, and later took over the farm. He and his wife, Helen (Carr) from Tryon , resided in the home until their passing. Alberta, Leslie's sister, married Leonard Williams and they had two children, Lorraine and Blair. Bertie is married to Warren Jeans . Blair married Emily (Bernas) and they presently live in the home previously owned by Bertie. They built and operate William's Oceantide Cottages in the summertime. Lorraine married Donald Robert Brown and they have a summer cottage on the property. The home was sold to Mary Trainor in 2008. 171
