Shortly after Dad took on the Deforest-Crossley dealership, a com- petitor appeared on the scene. The Marconi Corporation appointed James A. Gesner as its dealer. Jim Gesner had a welding and vulcanizing business. In another few years he was to play a leading role as Dad’s competitor in the broadcasting business as well.
