Saturday morning the train (the Imperial Limited) picked us up and we began our long trip to the coast. Our berths were rather comfortable and the Sgt. had a hard time getting us out on Saturday morning. Immediately, breakfast, there was a grand rush and we were agreeably surprised to find such good fare. Saturday Dec. 7. Everything was first class. Coffee, porridge with syrup, ham and eggs and good bread and butter was a treat, and this fare was served three times a day all through the trip, we were a little sorry to reach Vancouver. We did not see much fine scenery during the first part of our trip. Sunday, Dec. 8th. All Saturday and Sunday we traveled the northern part of Ontario seeing nothing except scrub- bush and a few mining and hunting villages, with the exception of a nice view of Lake Superior early on Monday morning. At 9:30 am, Dec. 9th, we passed through Port Arthur and about one hour afterwards reached Fort William. Sent a couple of wires from there, one to Regis2 and one to lrene3. that I would pass through Calgary Wednesday. Everyone was looking forward to have a run at Winnipeg. We arrived there at 10 o'clock in the evening.
