In the afternoon, Mastin, Hadon‘s, Todd and I went for a walk and incidentally to bring back some washing which a Russian was doing for us. We were hospitably entertained again, gave us some tea and bread. We also had some music and Mastin took some pictures. Got back to camp in time for supper. Todd and Trott went out after supper and came back with a share of refreshment inside and out. Paddy Power went down to Mr. Roward and asked him for a drink of rum for his toothache. He got what he wanted as be generally does and went to bed. Conwell came home with his mouth cut and had to have four stitches put in it. Got into a fight at the village when one of the fellows from another Company kicked him. Even old Todd was pretty well loaded up at bedtime but all the trouble he caused was pulling Veniot out of bed.

Sunday Feb. 2, 19.

Protestant parade at 9:40 a.m. R.C. at 10:30. We paraded to the British Columbia Hall where we heard Mass and also a good sermon by Rev, Capt. O'Brien. Last night a boxing match was fought and the ring was still roped off right behind the alter. Looked incongruous, but possibly the Mass was as acceptable as if it were celebrated in a grand church. In the afternoon we all lay around in our bunks, six or eight in each bunk told stories and wondered how soon we might be going to Omsk or back to Canada.
