was pretty too and though there was twelve soldiers, 
     
     beside the family in a very small room, two or three of the

     Today I had a new job; kitchen police. Most of the 
     
     morning we spent picking or rather scraping frozen 
     
     carrots. Cold job on the fingers too but were done about 
     
     10 o'clock in the morning and only about another hour 
     
     after dinner , so we put in rather a lazy day. Mail from 
     
     home this evening, one letter from Momma and one from 
     
     Irene. Some papers too, and all feeling a lot better 
     
     tonight. Hope to have some more tomorrow as believe 
     
     there is a lot more in the City. Heard too that we may be 
     
     going home in a couple of weeks, but do not put much 
     
    
   
   
    
     faith in this rumor. Todd, Mastin and I washed our hair
