Saturday Feb. 22, 19. The worst trouble here is water; it is scarce and not
fit to drink. There are no wash basins either, so most of the ablutions are done in a mess tin or a bowl. Not a very satisfactory wash. Am still excused duty so do nothing except lie around, and eat all I can as my appetite is
excellent.
Saturday, Feb. 23. The only event worth mentioning is a visit from Jim
Shaw. He walked out from East Barracks and Todd and I went part of the way back with him. Went to bed early
and had a good sleep.
Monday Kitchen fatigues this morning and parade in the
afternoon. Fine day though a little snow squall in the morning. The first approach to a storm we have seen since coming.
Tuesday Table orderly today and bath and change of underwear in the afternoon.
