A battalion of the British Middlesex Regiment moved far along the railway toward Moscow and wintered in Omsk. The effect of the Allied troops on the lawless countryside was immediate and quite satisfactory among the people ofthe region with the exception of the Bolshevist supporters who tried every trick to disorganize and interfere with the steadying effect brought on by the presence ofthe Allies.
