General Bickford and I were shown through engine room and stoke hole by chief engineer, which was all verv interesting. To-day was first day men able to have Physical Training on deck. The 260th Batt, gave a concert in Officers smoke room

in afternoon. To-day we are passing about 70 miles south of Aleutian Islands. Ships run was 236 miles.

Friday, January 3rd, 1919 - Weather fine during day, west wind, little sea. Stiff wind blew up in evening. Band gave concert in Officers smoke room in am. Ships run was 247 miles. As we will pass the 180' meridian within the next 24 hours, Saturday Jan. 4th will be omitted from our calendar.

Sunday, January 5th, 1919 - Weather , snow in morning, aftemoon fair, blew half gale in evening, rough sea. To-day we passed 180' meridian and thus passed from the west to the far east. Ships run was 251 miles. About 6.00 pm. a sea

came over the bow and carried away a companionway to mens quarters.

Monday, January 6th, 1919 - Heavy snow storm in morning, Fair in aftemoon, fairly strong N.-W. wind. About 6.00 pm. we were struck by hurricane from N.—W. which blew all night

with terrific force causing a heavy sea. Turning colder. Ships run was 229 miles.
