Again this week another new member was voted into the Newstead Gun Club. This time it was R. B. Rossborough, another banker, who was Manager of the Canadian Bank of Commerce. Spring was in full swing, the Heartz matches were over, and the Club decided it was time to hang up the shotguns for the season. A big contributing factor was the condition of the road to Belmont. Spring roads have always been a major problem on Prince Edward Island, and there was minimal maintenance done on them in the early part of this century. An effort was always made to keep the Kensington Road passable out past the Provincial Exhibition Association grounds and to the Asylum at Falconwood but the lane from this main road to Belmont was usually left to its own destiny in the spring, and this presented the problem.

Again, this year, the current 'home' of the Newstead Gun Club would fall victim to the desires of the members--not that attendance at Belmont was a problem, or the hospitality of John Andrews, but the distance to travel, coupled with the general attitude toward the winter and spring road conditions, left members considering a new site for 1912. There were certainly no ill feelings about the shooting year at Belmont--just a lot of great memories.
