"The Montague Gun Club held its second competition at their recently estab- lished range. The shoot was enhanced by a visit from five members of the Charlottetown Gun Club who have been of invaluable assistance to the local club

The local members were pleased with the number of interested gunners who turned out for the shoot and they hope to esta- blish regular nights for their competitions, Monday evening being the next date set.

Mr. Ron Atkinson of Charlottetown took the top prize for the day by shooting two perfect rounds. The following are the results of the top ten scores: Ron Atkinson 50, Walter Carver 41, Ken Clements 40, Bill MacDonald 36, Howard Douglas 34, Gilbert Clements 30, Bud Ings 30, John White 28, John Yeo 27, and Lloyd MacCallum 27. "

The Montague Club would continue to shoot fora few years, mainly in August and September, but with no strong basic organization or planning, it would gradu- ally phase out, even though some of their skeet shooters were to achieve provincial prominence.

The bird hunting season of 1956 once again brought clay target activities to a stop, but this year it would be witha bit of a flourish. The first week of October would once again see a ma‘jjor influx of American and Canadian upland game shooters who came to Prince Edward Island, with their big station wagons and highly-trained dogs, to take advantage of the bounty of Hungarian Partridge and Ring-Necked Pheasant that prevailed. This hunting era was rapidly coming to an end, due perhaps to the 'overkill' enjoyed by the visitors, and some untimely environmental conditions.
