CHAPTER 12 HERTTAGE FULFILLED
The new executive kept things active through the winter of 1978, keeping the ancient clubhouse warm with an old oil burning space heater that required constant attention and care to prevent a potential fire. But it did the job well, and Saturday afternoons remained cramped but comfortable until mid- May. The old building was then given away for the hauling (as it had been a quarter century before) and a sparkling new, fully insulated facility with an additional 150 square feet of space was rolled, by flatbed, into place.
In May we travelled with a few local gunners to the McNeill Memorial shoot in Stellarton. It was a real pleasure to renew old acquaintances after twenty years, and to introduce my son to the Atlantic shooting scene. The only participants in attendance from my vintage were Lloyd Mattinson, and Atlantic referee-in-chief Evan Thompson (who passed away a few months later). However, many new friendships were born, leading to a new personal shooting enthusiasm.
