SAFETY HINTS TO DRIVERS

The first and foremost rule is “ALWAYS BE CAREFUL.”

Sound your horn when about to pass a car going: in the same direction, and pass on its left

Never try to pass another car at street intersections, on curves, or when going up or down a hill.

Do not allow your car to be overloaded, nor permit anyone to ride on the exterior of your car.

Racers are law-breakers. They are jointly liable for injuries done by either to a third party. Do not race on the public highway. Equip your car to meet all traffic regulations. Obey all traffic rules. Be doubly sure that your lights are correct, and your brakes strong. This is a vital matter in which neglect is slightly short of criminal. Do not zigzag, be on your job and attend to business.

Do not pass unless you see a clear rcad ahead.

Do not cut in suddenly as soon as you have passed another car. An act of this kind is unfair as well as dangerous.

Slow down immediately on signal and let another pass. Wave your hand to ict him know the way is clear. Never speed up to keep another from passing, give him all the road you can.

Stop only where you can be seen from either direction. Get out of the road for repairs.

Be cautious in rounding a curve, you never know what is ahead. Sound your horn.

Slow up a bit when meeting another car and at crossings amd curves. Dim your lights and slacken speed when meeting at night,

Be sure to put out your hand at ali stops and turns and slowdowns. Carry a stop-signal light. Make your intentions known in due time. Strike sand or ruts only at a moderate pace, likewise mud, ice and oil or tarvia.

A shift to lower gear on a steep incline is sometimes an aid to safety. The new slogan is, “Stop, Look, and Live.”

A clear or an open windshield always; sight must never be obstructed. Obey the Golden Rule. Drive your car in the way you would want others to drive theirs.
